Earlier this month, Pandorabots served its 100 millionth response! The chatbot was (not surprisingly)
A.L.I.C.E and the customer
was chatting from Lisbon, Portugal. In order that such momentous occasions don't slip by
un-noticed in the future, we've added a running total of the number of conversation responses
Pandorabots has served to the top of each page. Enjoy.

Over the last few days pathological AIML in one of the chatbots resulted in excessive server resource usage causing a partial denial of service for other chatbots hosted at Pandorabots. The underlying problem that allowed this to happen has been fixed.
[December 6th] Take a look at Pandorabots Embrace & Extend - a free sample section from Dr. Richard S Wallace's highly acclaimed book - Be Your Own Botmaster, 2nd Edition. Aimed at Pandorabots Botmasters of all levels, this book contains dozens of tips and techniques you won't find anywhere else.
[December 2nd] We're experiencing some on-going problems with AOL IM connectivity. There appear to be some new limitations on how many connections Pandorabots can have open to AOL's servers. Users may see the message Failed to Connect to a tocserver when signing on to AIM. We are looking into ways to resolve this.
[October 10th] If you've recently received a bounced message on sending mail to info@pandorabots.com, please re-send the message. The mail problems we were recently experiencing have now been resolved.
Some of you may have noticed that the Pandora's Box Forum is down. The folks at Lexicalgas (who host the forum)
are aware of the problem and are working on bringing the site back up.
It's now possible to train directly from the Targets page (saving you some cutting and pasting);
and training from conversation logs now sets <that>
and <topic> too. In both cases, to see the captured <that> and <topic> click on
Advanced Alter Response from the Training page.
You can now publish your bot using a Media Semantics Character Toolkit animated Flash character.
To try out this new feature, simply login, create a Pandorabot,
and click on Media Semantics.
The tutorial has been updated and
integrated into the main site. Many corrections have been made and it
now corresponds more closely to the current state of the user
interface. As it is now fully integrated into the site, our
translators will be able to more easily translate it. Enjoy.
Thanks to Silas Lima for translating the site to Portuguese!
